About Me

Hi! Check out my work, my blog, and get in touch!

About Me

My first delve into web development and learning HTML was when I was just 13. I have worked in game development and web development for a number of years. My first paid web development role was with my late sister’s company, Kestrel Design. This may sound like nepotism, but if you knew her you’d know she wouldn’t have kept me on if I wasn’t good at what I did!

So far I’ve mostly done copy editing and bug fixes. I love to take existing code that’s bugged, find the errors, and fix it… Although I’m equally skilled at writing code from scratch. I’ve been slowly working my way through FreeCodeCamp’s full stack certification, however I hit a block when I began back end!

In my personal life I love to try my hand at lots of different crafty projects; I like to take on ambitious challenges to really get to grips with a new field for example:

  • Baking? Lemon Meringue Pie and Vanilla Caramel Eclairs!
  • Sewing? Make a skirt from scratch without a pattern and try to make my own ball gown (ended up having to buy one for that event as I ran out of time, but planning to fix/finish at some point!)
  • Crochet? Oversized granny square with a fanned shell edging as a baby blanket!

If you want to get me talking talk about Buffy (the Vampire Slayer), Sabrina (’90s or reboot), PC games, retro console games, or politics… or my overuse of exclamation marks!!!

My Blog

Autism: My Journey (Journal?)

For the first few paragraphs of this post I’m going to be braindumping because I honestly have no idea where to start this post, I just know I want to talk about my journey. Do I start with when I first started realising I was ‘different’? Do I start with how much time I spent…

Issues and Abuse: My Story (long form)

Only a passing relevance to the post, but I hope you all are having a wonderful pride month and continue to do so. I wasn’t planning on writing, but it came up and came out and I think it’s important to talk about. There are no pictures, products, or self promos as it’s not appropriate…

Quick Fire: Guilty Pleasures and New Products

Why guilt? Why should we ever feel guilty about something assuming, obviously, that’s not hurting anyone (ourself included)? It perpetuates this idea that we shouldn’t have or seek pleasaure. If it’s about how society would approve or disapprove of the thing why do we put so much on that? Words matter. I propsose we stop…

Quick fire: Boundaries

We all have boundaries. We all deserve boundaries. People who don’t respect or recognise the validity of our boundaries aren’t worth our time or energy

Latest Wave of Sexist Ads in Games

Lately a lot of things have been bothering me. I know it’s because I’m down that my ability to keep my mouth shut on things that irritate me is almost non existent, but that doesn’t make those things any less valid of causing annoyance. One thing that I’ve been seeing more and more lately is…

I’m Not OK

This isn’t really a blog post as far as I would usually call it, but I just wanted to write something, anything, even if it’s short, even if it’s not well written or anything like that. It will be ramble, it will be unedited, it may have typos and unfinished thoughts, but this is an…

Hiatus

Hi weasels. Coming in slightly early this week; I’ve made the decision to take a hiatus from everything: my blog, my streaming, volunteering, everything. I may even go camping for a week or two at some point. This will most likely be for a month or two, but it may be longer. Once I’m ready…

Blog 19: Transformative Justice

Welcome back, Weasels! This post might get kinda heavy so I’d like to start with some good news. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that the US just had an election in which Trump was voted out in favour of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This is a big moment for the…

Blog 18: Fear AKA Defence Mode AKA What Happened Last Week

Hi Weasels! Let’s talk about last week… My lack of blog may have come as a surprise and I’d like to go into it. This blog will be a surprise to some who knew I was originally planning to do a post on Transformative Justice. I still plan to do that, but not until next…

No Blog

As much as this blog is an outlet this past week has been a tough one in terms of my mood, so I’ve decided not to release a blog this week as an act of self care. Hopefully things improve over this week and I’ll be able to get back to normal from next week.…

Blog 16: Fan Friday on Monday 1!

So here’s a callback to the format I used to use when I was trying to find a format! I spend a lot of time talking about what I think and verging on ranting, but for this post I’d like to share a little of what I love. I’ve also optimised the old image.

Update: Twitch Reschedule

As mentioned in my last stream (the one before I had to cancel) I’m rearranging my weekly Factorio stream. I’ve done some research into best times and I’ve made a decision. From today it’ll be on Wednesdays at 6pm my time (GMT+1). I hope you can join me! Here’s a timer to make it easier…

Blog 15: The Problem With Bones

When I mentioned to someone close to me that I was planning this post they tried to persuade me not to write it, but this is my voice. They argued that it wasn’t the intent, not seeming to realise that intent is not the be all and end all. If anything it’s worse because it…

Blog 14: Asperger’s

In this post I’ll be talking about Asperger’s. For those who don’t know: Asperger’s Syndrome is an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or, according to the DSM V, is analogous with ASD. You may have seen on my bio that I’m an Aspie and wondered what I was on about… well… get ready for some knowledge(!)…

Kim: In Memoriam

This wasn’t the post I’d originally planned to release this week. I explain why below and will delay the one I had planned for this week. Trigger warning: cancer, loss, and other feelings triggered by bereavement. Feel free to click away or not read this, I’d understand. I just need to write about this. This…

Blog 13: Migraines

Migraines have been a part of my life since primary school. For those who don’t know, a migraine is similar to a headache in that it’s an ache in your head, but they frequently come with other symptoms including nausea, photophobia (aversion to light), audiophobia (aversion to sound), brain fog (a feeling of not having…

Blog 11: Revealing Some Anxiety

I have an extreme view on Covid. I know this. I know a lot of people won’t agree with everything here and some may share some or all of my opinions, but I want to be recklessly honest otherwise what is the point of my content?! Sorry for the wall of text this post will…
